This module provides a tightly embedded HDMI output solution for your GBS8200. This is a perfect addition to a modded GBS8200 that is running GBS Control.

If you're not sure what the GBS8200 is, then check out this great video from Bob at RetroRGB that describes it in detail and provides installation instructions for GBS Control!

You must use a 5V, 3A power supply while using this module to ensure that your GBS8200 and the DigitalGBS are provided with adequate power.

What is included in this kit:
  • 1x DigitalGBS w/ Power Harness and Heat Sink
  • 1x Audio Jack Board w/ Screws
What you need to supply:
  • A high quality 5V, 3A power supply, such as the Triad WSU050-3000.
  • 22AWG wires to connect the audio jack board to the DigitalGBS

This tiny, power-packed module takes in a VGA signal from your GBS8200 and outputs an HDMI™ signal with an embedded analog audio.  This DigitalGBS module can accept any resolution from VGA to UXGA and does not provide any internal scaling of the image - all scaling and image processing is handling by your GBS8200.

This module accepts the following resolutions:

  • 480i/p
  • 576i/p
  • 720p25/30/50/60
  • 1080i50/60
  • 1080p24/25/30/50/60

Please be aware that these boards contain components that are sensitive to ESD strikes.  Be sure to handle these using proper ESD handling techniques.

Excellent product and service

This a great solution for a DIY GBS 8200 upscaler. I initially had trouble with mine and Shane asked me to send it back in. Turns out, the module is sensitive to the power supply one uses. I thought mine was good to go, but after taking a reading was providing higher spec voltage, frying a component on the board. Shane, free of charge repaired and sent back the module.

It works fantastically now! I purchased the official Triad power supply. Don’t buy anything else!

AWESOME PRODUCT.

The ONLY solution that outputs proper color levels.

Finally, something that works as it should!

I've tried a great many VGA to HDMI dongles in my obsession to make my GBS-C's output as good as I can. Every single one of them output limited range RGB, added noise, or both. Not a problem on most TV's but your blacks will be very noticeably gray on the majority of PC monitors. This kit does not have those problems.

I knocked a star off due to the price. There is no reason this should cost $40 given what it is. I would have gladly bought another one for my alternate setup, but when I can get somewhat equivalent functionality for $8 - 12 elsewhere it's hard to justify the cost.

That aside, fantastic product, obviously well designed and I like the way it looks very clean both on the board and the video output!
